London Day Trip

Saturday, 8 November 2014

London is by far one of my favourite cities and when I got the opportunity to go for the second time in 2 months, I was allllll over that. Hopping all over the city and experiencing the different galleries around London was right up my street.

Galleries I visited:

  • The Photographers' Gallery
  • National Portrait Gallery
  • World Press Photo 2014
  • Michael Hoppen Gallery

The Photographers' Gallery just off oxford street showcased Edward Steichen and Viviane Sassen's photography history, contrasting the work of both of them against each other with Steichen's images of Vanity Fair and Vogue Magazine from 1929. Whereas Sassen's exhibition was a visual presentation in which her images were projected onto a mirror and the adjacent wall.

I found the World Press Photo Gallery really moving as it showed Journalistic issues around the world such as Syria, Boston Marathon Bombings and the Massacre at Westgate Mall.
The images are very brutal and don't hold anything as there are dead bodies featured throughout.

Taking a walk around the Thames just as the sun was setting gave a completely different vibe to the centre.

I already want to go back!!

(all images are taken by me)
